The New 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe | Bert Ogden BMW in McAllen, Texas

Luxurious, powerful, and tech-laden, the 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe will redefine its segment when it arrives at dealers across the U.S. this November, including right here at Bert Ogden BMW in McAllen, Texas. When it arrives, it will be immediately available for a test drive and purchase.

While we wait for the highly anticipated next-generation BMW 2 Series Coupe to get here, check out this in-depth summary of what we know about the compact rear-wheel drive-based sports coupe.

Under the Hood

The standard engine powering the 2022 2 Series Coupe is the revised 2.0-liter four-cylinder BMW TwinPower turbo engine, partnered with an eight-speed sport automatic transmission with launch control. This engine lays down 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque — that’s a 7-horsepower increase and a 37 lb-ft of torque increase over the outgoing first-generation BMW 2 Series Coupe. With this engine, the 2 Series Coupe can launch from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds and tops out at a speed of either 130 mph or 155 mph, depending on trim level.

If you’re all about performance, though, consider instead the BMW M240i xDrive Coupe, motivated by a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder BMW TwinPower turbo engine that cranks out 382 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. That’s a horsepower increase of 47 horsepower. This engine enables a 0-to-60 mph sprint in just 4.1 seconds. This engine boasts a closed-deck aluminum block and an alloy cylinder head and is also mated with the eight-speed sport Steptronic transmission.

On the Outside

The BMW 2 Series Coupe has grown in size. The new generation is 4.3 inches longer, 2.6 inches wider, and 2.0 inches longer — plus, it sits 1.0 inch lower. The exterior design is of course athletic. BMW uses 3D surfaces, diagonal lines, and triangular forms to evoke a powerful look. The iconic BMW kidney grille finds its home on the front of the 2022 2 Series Coupe, where you’ll also notice the contoured headlights (LED, of course).

The coupe rides on standard 18-inch light-alloy wheels wrapped in 225/45R18 all-season runflat tires, but you can upgrade to 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels. M models come standard with the 19-inch options.

Choose among the following exterior colors for the 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe: Alpine White, Jet Black, Black Sapphire Metallic, Melbourne Red Metallic, Mineral White Metallic, Portimao Blue Metallic, Brooklyn Grey Metallic (new), and Thundernight Metallic (also new).

On the Inside

Step inside the 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe for a truly luxurious experience. Everything from the Sport seats to the Sport leather steering wheel to the standard moonroof to the dual-zone automatic climate control features showcase how advanced and elegant the new 2 Series Coupe truly is.

All About Safety

Most importantly, the brand-new next-generation BMW 2 Series Coupe boasts a broad collection of standard driver assistance safety technologies that actively work to help prevent collisions. Among these standard safety technologies are Frontal Collision Warning with Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, a rearview camera, and Dynamic Cruise Control.

You can also opt for Active Blind Spot Detection, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and a Parking Assistance Package with Back-Up Assistance and Surround View (including Top View, Panorama View, and 3D View).

Connected Tech

The 2022 2 Series Coupe boasts a 10-speaker audio system, but audiophiles will want to upgrade to the optional Harman Kardon Surround Sound system with its 14 speakers.

Keep your phone charged on the go with two USB ports. You’ll want that phone charged so you can get directions, stream your favorite music, and place hands-free calls via Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration. BMW also offers integration with Amazon Alexa.
